Virat Kohli Discusses the Team’s “Relentless” Preparation for the India-England Test.

India is slated to face England on August 4 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The India-England Test series will kick off the second ICC World Test Championship. Indian captain Virat Kohli has stated that playing five Test matches in a series requires a great deal of hard work, devotion, and agility. Even if they lose the match, the Indian cricket team always tries to stay in the game till the finish and seek the win.

Sports need a lot of mental work, even for the strongest and hardest players.

‘It needs unwavering craziness and the pursuit of greatness every day across a series of five Tests.’ To convince yourself that you want to put in the effort and put yourself in difficult situations in every Test match, every day throughout the course of five Tests. ‘You have to be mentally and physically prepared for that task,’ said Kohli in an interview with Dinesh Karthik on Sky Sports.

Playing matches under the COVID-19 limitations has added another layer of mental stress because of the bio-bubble limits everyone’s activities for the duration of a series. This is one of the reasons why the ECB eased rules in the two weeks preceding the India-England Test.

“It means nothing more to me than winning a test series anywhere in the world. These are not stories or career-defining moments for me. It will be a great deal for Indian cricket, but this culture is more important to me. I will do all in my power to ensure that, even if we lose a Test match, we go for the victory rather than surrender and save a Test match. That is not acceptable to me,” he continued. Matches between India and England have always brought together the passion of both cricket-crazy nations.
