On May 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Hyderabad and Chennai for a one-day visit to attend the Indian School of Business’s 20th-anniversary festivities and the graduation ceremony for the Post Graduate Programme Class of 2022.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for 11 projects worth over Rs 31,400 crore in Chennai, aimed at strengthening infrastructural development, improving connectivity, and boosting the region’s ease of living.
These projects will also considerably boost the region’s socio-economic prosperity, have a transformative impact across a number of sectors, and help create jobs.
The PM will dedicate five projects totaling over Rs 2,900 crore to the country in Chennai. The 75-kilometer Madurai-Teni (Railway Gauge Conversion Project) will improve access and enhance tourism in the region at a cost of more than Rs 500 crore.
The 30 km long third railway line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu, which cost over Rs 590 crore to build, will allow more Suburban services to run, providing more options and improving the travel experience for passengers.
The program will also see the inauguration of 1,152 dwellings built as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Light Urban’s House Project.
In Chennai, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a multi-modal logistics park costing more than Rs 1,400 crore.
