The Kerala High Court has ordered that further proceedings in the Sunny Leone case be stayed.
Sunny Leone is accused of breaking the conditions of a contract for a theatrical performance in Kozhikode, Kerala, four years ago.
On Wednesday, the Kerala High Court suspended further proceedings in the state police Crime Branch’s breach of contract case against Bollywood actor Sunny Leone and two others.
Justice Ziyad Rahman put a hold on the proceedings while he considered the actor’s request to overturn the Crime Branch’s FIR against her for allegedly breaking the conditions ofa four-year contract for a theatrical performance in Kozhikode
In her plea, the actress has disputed the claims made against her, her husband, and their employee, claiming that they do not meet the description of the alleged offences.
She claims they haven’t been involved in any criminal activities yet.
She argued that by subjecting them to a lengthy judicial process despite the lack of substantial or convincing evidence against them, they were subjected to unthinkable anguish and tragic loss.
Shiyas Kunjumohammed, the program’s coordinator from the Ernakulam district, filed a complaint, prompting the Crime Branch to open an investigation.
Ms. Leone and others allegedly broke the terms of the contract despite getting 39 lakhs for doing stage plays in Kerala and abroad, according to Mr. Kunjumohammed’s suit.
