The Delhi Capitals defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by a score of 44 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav’s fantasy stint on Sunday swept away his former side, the Kolkata Knight Riders, as the Delhi Capitals won by 44 runs at the Brabourne Stadium. The left-arm spinner returned with figures of 4–35, his second-best performance in the IPL’s history. Kuldeep removed Shreyas Iyer, Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, and Umesh Yadav, allowing the Delhi Capitals to maintain their lead. KKR fell 44 runs short of the mark.
Kuldeep struggled with KKR in recent seasons, spending most of his time on the bench. However, after capturing the wickets of the KKR hitters, the spinner rejoiced wildly. The left-arm spinner played in nine games for KKR in the 2019 season but just five in the next season. Due to an injury, the spinner missed the competition in 2021 and was later discharged by the team prior to the mega auction.
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has already chastised KKR for their handling of Kuldeep Yadav.
In an interview with Sportskeeda, he stated: “Kuldeep Yadav has a track record of winning matches. But he is also someone who must be properly handled. He is quite emotional and suffers from depression if he is not handed the bowling ball or is dropped from the squad. When Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan were captains at KKR, he was told to sit at home and not even be a part of the squad. Any match-winner feels the strain when you act like this.”
In the encounter between KKR and DC, the former won the toss and chose to bat first. David Warner and Prithvi Shaw scored 61 and 51 respectively to help the Delhi Capitals reach 215/5 in 20 overs. Sunil Narine returned with two wickets for KKR. KKR was losing wickets at regular intervals while chasing 216. Shreyas Iyer was the top scorer for KKR, with 54 runs off 33 balls.
With this game, Delhi earned their second victory of the season, while KKR suffered their second loss.
