Thalapathy 67 will be officially announced, with Sanjay Dutt joining in February.

After collaborating on the Tamil action film Master in 2021, Thalapathy Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj are reuniting for the upcoming Thalapathy 67. The superstar actor has already begun filming for the film, in which he plays a gangster in his forties with a salt and pepper appearance. The muhurat puja took place in December of 2022. Pinkvilla previously exclusively reported that Lokesh has completed the script and that the majority of the film will be shot in Kashmir. They had done the reconnaissance in November. Another exciting update on this long-awaited project is now available.

According to reports, the makers intend to release an official announcement video for Thalapathy 67 on January 26. “As of now, there is talk of releasing an official announcement video on January 26. It will provide a glimpse into both Vijay’s character and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s world, which he is attempting to create with this film. Meanwhile, filming for the film has already begun, with a small schedule beginning tomorrow in Kodaikanal. However, the lead actor is not on the schedule. “They will begin filming in Kashmir in the first week of February, and Sanjay Dutt will join the rest of the cast,” a source close to the development says.

According to the insider, Thalapathy 67 will be shot entirely in India, with no plans to shoot anywhere else. “After the Kashmir schedule, there may be a small portion in Telangana,” the source adds. Meanwhile, there are reports that Thalapathy 67 will be part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, or LCU. However, our source informs us that it is not yet completely finalised. Once that is secured, they will approach other stars from Vikram and Kaithi for cameo appearances in Thalapathy 67.

It was released in June 2022 and starred Kamal Haasan. Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, and Suriya also played important roles in the Tamil action-thriller.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Sanjay Dutt will play one of the villains in Thalapathy 67, and that he will be paid a whopping Rs 10 crore to appear in this Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj film. According to reports, Trisha, Gautham Menon, and Mysskin are also involved in this massive project, which will be released across India.

Sanjay Dutt also has the Ahmed Khan-backed Baap in the works, directed by Vivek Chauhan and starring Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, and Sunny Deol.
