A complicated case of pyomyositis in a 10-year-old patient was successfully treated by a team of doctors at Kauvery Hospital. Specialists from paediatrics, critical care, orthopaedics, plastic surgery and infectious diseases came together to perform the surgery.
The10-year old girl has arrived from Guwahati, Assam with her parents and had developed complications, following an ankle sprain and a plaster cast on the knee. A swelling had begun on her plastered leg along with high grade fever. Through surgical diagnosis, the doctors came to a conclusion that she was suffering from pyomyositis, which required the remove of the affected tissue around the knee.
