Superstar Rajinikanth confirms the ‘Thalaivar 169’ director in the midst of controversy.
In recent years, Rajinikanth has been eager to collaborate with young filmmakers, choosing Pa. Ranjith in “Kabali” and “Kaala,” both of which received critical praise, and Karthik Subbaraj in “Petta,” which was a commercial blockbuster hit.
The idea was formally confirmed when Rajini approved dark comedy specialist Nelson of “Kolamavu Kokila” and “Doctor” fame for “Thalaivar 169” to be produced by Sun Pictures. Nelson’s most recent film, “Beast,” starring Thalapathy Vijay, received mixed reviews from critics but is expected to perform well at the box office.
Rumors began to circulate that Rajini was dissatisfied with Nelson’s management of the Beast and that he was considering changing directors. It was also stated that Atlee and Desing Periyasamy are candidates to take over the reins.
Nelson quietly responded to his critics by including “Thalaivar 169” in his social media profile. Rajinikanth has also revealed that he is working with Nelson by altering his profile photo to the still from the film’s announcement.
