Shikhar Dhawan Receives First COVID-19 Vaccine Dose.
The Delhi Capitals were having a spectacular Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) season, led by Rishabh Pant. The team was leading the points table when 12 cases of COVID-19 were detected within two days of the bio-bubble, prompting the IPL Governing Council and the BCCI to decide that postponing the IPL 2021 was a safer option. Now that steps have been put in place to send players home, Team India and Delhi Capitals opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan shared a photo of himself receiving the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday.
The left-hander posted an emotional note on Twitter, along with a photo of himself receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Dhawan thanked the frontline soldiers for their loyalty and sacrifices in the post. In order to fight this outbreak, the Delhi cricketer has also asked his fans to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Shikhar Dhawan recently donated Rs. 20 lakh to Mission Oxygen in order to assist hospitals and patients in obtaining oxygen equipment. He also mentioned that all money raised from post-match prizes will be donated to the association.
Cricket fans in India were taken aback by the BCCI’s decision to postpone the IPL 2021 after players from multiple teams were diagnosed with COVID-19. The virus was detected in players from the Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals. The tournament’s Twitter account confirmed the news.
Vaccinated ✅ Can’t thank all our frontline warriors enough for their sacrifices and dedication. Please do not hesitate and get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible. It’ll help us all defeat this virus. pic.twitter.com/0bqBnsaWRh
