Ramapuram SRM Conducts Walkathon to Protect Nature

Over 1000 students from SRM campus in Ramapuram participated in the ‘Save Nature – Save Life’ walkathon at Elliot’s Beach, Besant Nagar. The walkathon, flagged off by Dr. V. Subbiah Bharathi, Director, SRM Group of Institution was aimed at creating awareness about the existing threats to nature.


The walkathon was started from the Elliot’s beach and covered a span of 3 kms through Annai Vailankanni Shrine, Murugan Idli shop and ended at the starting point of Elliot’s beach. The students held eco-friendly placards that called to attention on a range of issues such as climate change, global warming, clean water and deforestation. The placards were made in Tamil and English for creating awareness among the locals.


The students also carried sapling and seed balls during the walk to encourage the public to plant more. The theme of the walkathon was green and an awareness on the spread of Corona virus also included.
