Rakul Preet Singh on Addressing the “Root Cause” of Women’s Safety: “Normalise Co-ed”
Rakul Preet Singh, a Bollywood actress, had a busy year in 2022. She gave some standout performances in movies including Thank God, Cuttputlli, Doctor G, Attack: Part 1, and Runaway 34, winning plaudits from both audiences and reviewers. She is currently ecstatic with the success of Chhatriwali, her first movie of 2023. The Tejas Vijay Deoskar-directed film discusses safe sex and how contraceptives are a crucial component of a fulfilling sexual life. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Rakul discussed the safety of women in Delhi.
The diva of Hollywood spoke out on how social perceptions of the disparities between men and women may have set the way for problems with women’s safety. She emphasised the significance of identifying the “source” of the issue. “Let’s examine the problem’s underlying cause. I might be mistaken, but let’s give it a shot,” she added.
Why should the safety of women come first? Why don’t guys take responsibility? When guys assume it’s a rookie mistake to find a woman out alone at night or dressed a specific manner, and then they put the responsibility on the lady. But I think they are raised to believe things like, “Don’t talk to ladies.” The Yaariyan actress continued, “When you definitely create that barrier, people will eventually take that step out of curiosity.
Rakul added that sex education need to be required in both families and schools.”I feel that the more you normalise any conversation between a lady and a man, and if you have that atmosphere at home, you will never be able to have that conversation,” she said.think of sick things to do,” she seemed to think it was vital to “normalise co-ed education.” I believe it is making co-education more common.
The more you try to prevent men from dating women, even if they are in college, the more you give males the desire to attack women as if they were strange people they weren’t used to seeing. The better it is, the more normal it is. Additionally, I think thinking plays a very important role,” the actress added.
Regarding Chhatriwali, Ronnie Screwvala is the film’s producer. The video explores the typical social notions of sex and intimacy against the backdrop of Haryana. In addition to Rakul, Sumeet Vyas of Tripling fame plays a significant role in Chhatriwali. Currently, Zee5’s OTT service is broadcasting the comedy-drama.
