What is Inner Wheel?

Inner Wheel is a largest all women International was founded in 1924 by Margarette Golding, a Nurse and a businesswoman. It operates in 108 countries with 1,20,000 members worldwide. In India, there are 42,000 members span across 27 Inner wheel districts; an in Chennai there are 1,500 members all together from 50 inner wheel clubs in Inner wheel district 323 (geographically covering Chennai to Thiruvannamalai). Ms.Usha Saraogi is the District Chairman of Inner Wheel 323.

District Chairman for Inner Wheel District 323 during 2020-21 is Usha Saraogi.

 

PROJECT MIKKA NANDRI is to honour COVID WARRIORS

Inner Wheel District 323have honoured 1130 nurses in Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital by giving them a Plaque/Trophy and a Packet of sweets.The Chief guest for the event is Ms.VasudhaaChandrachud, President, Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India on the occation of International Inner Wheel Day, today, 10th January, 2021

Dr.E. Tharanirajan, Dean of Madras Medical College and Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital addressed the gathering over a virtual meeting (zoom platform). In his welcome address, he thanked Usha Saraogi, Chairman of Inner Wheel District 323 and Vasudha Chandrachud, National President of Inner Wheel India and other members during this International Inner Wheel Day “10th January, 2021″He (dean) appreciated Inner Wheel Chairman Ms.Usha Saraogi for keeping projects in Health &Hygene in her priority this and thanked for providing 1400 PPE Kits for the nurses and 5000 mineral water bottles for the Covid patients. He said “Project MikkaNandri” is a tribute to the tiredless services put by the nursing staff of General hospital during the most stressful Covid pandemic, they (nurses) have all put their personal safety to risk and worked beyond the call of duty. It is a great gesture on the part of all of you at Inner Wheel District 323 to present plaques of appreciation to the nurses of GH in deep honour of services ourselves. They are indeed true covid warriors and your appreciation go a long way in keeping them motivated in the coming months in the fight against covid. I thank all our nurses for working so hard, every day, to save lives of each and every patient who get admitted everyday in our hospital. Before I conclude I would like to highlight statistics of our hospital, like what we have done during covid pandemic. The total number of 29214 patients with a cure rate of 95% which is ‘highest in the entire nation’, swab test  5,30,000 swab test, 30000 CT, and in the entire nation, the first institute to do follow up calls to the patients even after discharge.

Vasudha Chandrachud, President of Inner Wheel Dist in her address handed over a cheque of Rs.1,00,000 on behalf Inner Wheel Dist 332 to the Dean for “Wall of Kindness”, which is basically to treat unknown and poor patients treatment, meet charges arising out for buying medicines cost.She said it will definitely won’t match what the government can do, but it can change things in a little way in improving the services to patients.

1130 nurses were honoured, of which 60 were honoured in person by the Dean Dr E.Tharanirajan and Chairman of Inner Wheel District 323 Ms.Usha Saraogi & presidents of Inner Wheel Clubs in the district. Nursing Superintends Ms Parimala Devi and Ms Sujatha, Kanagalakshmi, Vanitha, Rathi and many others were honour by Dr E.Tharanirajan (Dean)

 Ms Usha Saraogi said in her address “Thanked nurses for taking up the best profession in the world, you are the angel from heaven on earth without wings who takes care of everyone in pain. You, nurses, doing yeomen service for which it calls for recognition during this pandemic. We take privilege in honouring 1130 nurses and the medical fraternity for their best services put their life at risk. “MIKKA NANDRI will give True recognition to the Nurses who have worked relentlessly for the past nine months to cure thousands of patients despite the risk of getting themselves infected.”
