Nanda Periyasamy, director of oru kalluriyin kathai (2005), Maayandi Kudumbathar(2009) had made a script for Nayantara. she heard the story and liked it very much. She made him wait for around a year because of her grand line up of other movie commitments she made for other directors.
In the meantime, Aadukalam, Game over fame Taapsee Pannu heard the story and she made her moves to buy the story rights from him and make that movie in Bollywood. Bollywood is a place where the biopics and sports action dramas are considered to be a successful genre and biopics of a sportsperson is even a great opportunity for a hit.
But what about a fictional story of an athlete that sounds so real. Yes, this story by Nanda Periyasamy is a story like that. A gujarati girl named Rashmi, who is an athlete and her peers and the people from her village call her ‘Rocket’ and the movie is named as ‘Rashmi Rocket’ itself. This is not a real life inspired story but this story for Lady Superstar now gone into the hands of Taapsee and ‘Karwaan’ fame Akarsh Khurana is directing this movie. The movie’s first look poster released by Taapsee on her social media and its third sports action drama for her after movies Soorma(2018) and Saand Ki Aaankh(2019).
