Saha and Gill’s fifties go in vain as Mumbai win by five runs over Gujarat Titans.
In a nail-biting end to a thrilling game on Friday, Mumbai Indians snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by defeating table-toppers Gujarat Titans by 5 runs. Daniel Sams, the left-arm pacer for the Mumbai Indians, successfully protected 9 runs in the final over to assist the club win its second game of the season.
The Mumbai Indians’ openers provided the squad a strong start after being put in to bat first, scoring 74 runs for the first wicket. Gujarat Titans mounted a recovery with quick wickets when Rohit Sharma (43) and Ishan Kishan (45) returned to the pavilion, only for Tim David to deliver the final touches, batting 44 off only 21 balls to assist Mumbai Indians to score 177 on board. Gujarat matched their good start in the chase, with both openers reaching half-centuries. Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill were both dismissed by Murugan Ashwin, who provided the breakthrough. After losing both of their openers, the Gujarat Titans fell 5 runs short of the mark thanks to some outstanding defense by the Mumbai Indians.
