Motor Vehicle Act 2019 :
The Motor Vehicle Act 2019 provides medical assistance to citizens in the event of any road accident. Also, the amount of compensation paid in the event of death/injury has increased. We will see the crimes and penalties in this new Motor Vehicle Act 2019.
1. Offence
Driving when mentally/physically unfit to drive.
OLD PENALTY
INR200 for the first offence; INR500 for a subsequent offence.
NEW PENALTY
INR1,000 for the first offence; INR2,000 for a subsequent offence.
2. Offence
Vehicle without permit
OLD PENALTY
Up to INR5,000
NEW PENALTY
INR10,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 6 months, community service
