‘Kurup’ Box Office Day 1: Dulquer Salmaan Starrer Crime-thriller Off To A Good Start


Kurup, the much-anticipated picture, finally entered theatres on November 12 and has already broken many box office records. The Dulquer Salmaan-starrer is being well received by audiences and is set to soar even higher over its opening weekend. While the picture garnered mostly great feedback from fans, here’s how it fared monetarily on its opening day.

Box office earnings for Kurup The first day
Kurup was a smashing blockbuster in Kerala theatres, with Dulquer Salmaan fans ecstatic to see their favorite actor on the big screen. The film fared well in Tamil Nadu as well. According to analyst Ramesh Bala, Kurup grossed Rs 58 lacs on its first day of release in Tamil Nadu. Given the film’s advanced bookings, the picture is poised to delight its global audience. Dulquer Salmaan, who also served as the film’s producer, did not leave any stone unturned in marketing the film. As a result, Kurup is projected to outperform in the next few days.


Kurup was shattering records long before he hit the big screen. The film became the first Malayalam film to have its trailer displayed on the world’s highest tower, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. Taking to his own Instagram account, the Karwaan actor stated that the film’s trailer would be shown on the Burj Khalifa. “This is a significant moment for me, for the hundreds of individuals behind the film #Kurup, and for the fantastic team behind Wayfarer Films and M Star Entertainment, the actor wrote alongside photos from the historic occasion. In my wildest fantasies, I never imagined a trailer for one of my films, much alone my name, playing on the renowned Burj Khalifa. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.

Kurup tells the story of India’s most sought fugitive, Sukumara Kurup, who was born in Kerala. Dulquer Salmaan played the title character, a conman who faked his own death in order to obtain insurance money. In addition to Sobhita Dhulipala, Shine Tom Chacko, Sunny Wayne, and Walid Riachy, the film has Sobhita Dhulipala, Shine Tom Chacko, Sunny Wayne, and Walid Riachy in supporting parts. Srinath Rajendran directed the film.
