Karthi aspires to make his directorial debut with his brother Suriya.

Karthi is now riding high on the success of his last film, Ponniyin Selvan. The magnum opus, directed by renowned filmmaker Mani Ratnam, has already established itself as one of the Tamil film industry’s all-time biggest triumphs. Karthi, who played the beloved character Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan in the film, has received acclaim for his outstanding performance. Meanwhile, the talented actor is preparing to premiere his next film, Sardar, very soon. Karthi discussed his upcoming directorial debut in a recent promotional interview for Sardar.

When questioned about his future ambitions, Karthi said that he only has a concept in his head. However, he said that he does not yet have any firm intentions. When asked about the actor he wants to cast in his directorial debut, Karthi immediately thought of his elder brother Suriya. The star also joked that no one else would ever grant him a date. Later, on a more serious note, Karthi remembered how he began his career as an assistant director with Mani Ratnam’s film Aayutha Ezhuthu, which starred Suriya.

Karthi, Suriya

The outstanding actor, who began his career in cinema with his elder brother’s film, hopes to make his directorial debut with a Suriya film. “Who else will believe me?” He took my hand and led me into this industry. I’d want to collaborate with him on a film. He is someone who can quickly shift into a character and give it his all. I’ve wanted to direct Anna in a film since I was an assistant director. It’s also a breeze to collaborate with him because he understands me so well. “Even when I’m perplexed about anything, he knows it in an instant,” Karthi explained.

Sardar, an espionage thriller, stars Karthi in numerous roles. The much anticipated picture is set to enter theatres on October 21, Friday. He will next be featured in the highly anticipated second edition of the Ponniyin Selvan series, which is set to be released in theatres in the summer of 2023. Karthi is also considering a reunion with hitmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for Kaithi 2, a sequel to their smash Kaithi.
