Kamal to begin and complete a new film swiftly before ‘Indian 2’ and ‘Vikram’?

Kamal Haasan, the head of the Makkal Needhi Mandram, may have suffered a big setback in the recently ended Tamil Nadu general elections, but his standing as the gigantic doyen of Tamil film has not been diminished in the least. In reality, millions of admirers are relieved that he would continue to make films that only he can make and set more unbreakable milestones in Indian cinema.

Shankar directed Kamal’s ‘Indian 2’, the sequel to the duo’s 1996 pan-India blockbuster. It went into production several months ago but has been marred by one production snafu after another, including a major makeup error, an on-set accident that killed three crew members, the COVID 19 pandemic, and now a creative disagreement between Shankar and producer Lyca Productions, which has resulted in a court case.

Meanwhile, Kamal had intended to shoot ‘Vikram,’ directed by ‘Master’ director Lokesh Kanagaraj, after the elections, but the coronavirus second wave thwarted his plans. If an agreeable solution for ‘Indian 2’ is reached, it will be the first picture to resume and will be completed in sixty to seventy days continuously.

If that is not the case, Kamal wanted to begin ‘Vikram,’ but it also requires the call sheet modification of two other extremely busy actors, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahaadh Faasil, as well as big action sequences that may require a larger team.

As a result, there is speculation that Ulaganayagan may choose to sign the Tamil adaptation of Drishyam 2′ with original director Jeethu Joseph and complete it within a month. It’s worth noting that the quickie was made with superstar Mohan Lal during the initial wave of COVID when relaxations were announced.

The Tamil version of ‘Drishyam,’ dubbed ‘Papanasam,’ starred Kamal and Gautami and became a massive smash hit when it was released in 2015. The same crew of Kamal, Jeethu Joseph, and producer Sripriya is rumored to be reuniting for ‘Papanasam 2’ without Gauthami, who had a falling out with Kamal a few years ago.

Papanasam 2 is still in its early stages, and the project’s start before ‘Indian 2’ and ‘Vikram’ is dependent on a number of external conditions, so the news should be regarded with a grain of salt until formal confirmation arrives.
