IPL 2021: CSK Fan Tears Up After MS Dhoni Scores Winning Runs Against Delhi Capitals

Vintage MS Dhoni was back in action as the ‘Captain Cool’ led Chennai Super Kings from the lead during the IPL 2021 Qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals on Sunday at Dubai International Stadium. Dhoni’s undefeated six-ball 18 at a strike rate of precisely 300, featuring three boundaries and a maximum, aided CSK’s advancement to the final.

A teenage fan couldn’t hold back her emotions as Mahendra Singh Dhoni finished off Chennai’s run chase. Mahi had found his rhythm with the bat. A woman sitting next to her consoled the child.

Returning to the first qualifier between DC and CSK, DC made a quick start after being put in to bat by Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni. When the last year’s runners-up lost the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer before Powerplay, Prithvi Shaw continued to dominate with the bat until perishing in the 11th over for a quickfire 34-ball 60 while playing an inside-out shot only to find Faf du Plessis who completed a good catch running to his left from long-on.

Captain Rishabh Pant and Shemron Hetmyer then put up 83 runs for the fifth wicket before the latter was bowled. Pant’s crucial 51 aided DC’s challenging total of 172/5 from 20 overs.

In response. CSK lost starter Faf du Plessis early on, but Ruturaj Gaikwad led the run chase later on. He received much-needed assistance from veteran batsman Robin Uthappa, with whom he had a 110-run stand for the second wicket. After losing Uthappa, the previous champions appeared to suffer a batting collapse and were in trouble when they lost middle-order batsman Moeen Ali on the first ball of the last over.

Nonetheless, MS Dhoni used his bat to do the talking and made his presence felt in a crucial game as CSK advanced to their seventh IPL final with an amazing fourth-wicket triumph.
