Indian 2: Kamal Haasan and Shankar’s long-awaited action thriller will restart production in August 24.
The 1996 social drama Indian, directed by Shankar, was Kamal Haasan and filmmaker Shankar’s first collaboration. After nearly two decades apart, the actor-director team has reunited for the film’s sequel, Indian 2. They began production work in 2017, but the project was put on hiatus following a horrific event in 2020, which resulted in the loss of numerous staff members. According to the latest rumours, the film will begin production on August 24 of this year.
Kamal Haasan discussed the delay in Indian 2. “Aside from the fact that it’s a massive film, we had a lot of stuff popping up in between.” We had COVID, and there was a fatal accident on the set. It’s terrifying, but we persisted.” “I operate a white elephant named Raaj Kamal Films, and Mr. Shankar manages a firm called S Productions,” he said. These are the white elephants that we must feed, so we go to work. We can’t just watch one movie. Mughal-e-reign Azam’s cannot be replicated. We can’t sit through a decade of one film.”
Kajal Aggarwal has announced that she will portray the female protagonist. Sathyaraj and Karthik are also thought to be in the film’s cast. For the shoot, a set has also been built in Chennai.
Aside from Indian 2, Shankar is now working on his next film starring Ram Charan. The project, now named RC 15, is intended to include the star in a dual role.
