Hardik Pandya’s watches, estimated to be worth Rs 5 crore, were seized by the Mumbai Customs Department.
The Customs Department confiscated two wristwatches allegedly worth Rs 5 crores from Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya in a significant incident. The products were confiscated by Customs agents on Sunday night, November 14. The incident occurred when the Indian all-rounder was returning from Dubai following his participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
The batsman reportedly did not have the bill receipt for the watches, according to the Mumbai Customs Department. The two watches, which were said to be valued at Rs 5 crore, were imprisoned. Notably, the India National Cricket Team was eliminated from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 group stage. Pandya had a forgettable tournament after a disastrous opening two games.
When Hardik arrived at the Mumbai airport, customs agents discovered him in possession of two costly watches and detained him. The Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder had not listed the timepieces as customs products, which caused complications. The things were seized by the authorities.
Notably, Hardik has a sizable collection of high-end timepieces. His collection also includes the Patek Philippe Nautilus Platinum 5711, which allegedly costs more than Rs 5 crore.
Surprisingly, Hardik’s elder brother, Krunal Pandya, was held at Mumbai Airport on his way back from Dubai. He was detained on suspicion of possessing hidden gold. He was carrying INR 1 crore in gold and a couple of undeclared fancy watches.
KL Rahul, the Indian team’s vice-captain for T20Is, addressed the media ahead of India vs. New Zealand T20I series, which begins on Wednesday. The player responded to a number of queries, including one on Hardik Pandya’s exclusion. When asked whether Hardik Pandya had been given an explanation for his non-selection, KL Rahul replied, “To be honest, I’m not sure if that has occurred. He understands exactly what he must accomplish and what is expected of him. He is intelligent enough to recognize this.”
