“Hair” for Cause-World Cancer Day Awareness by VS Hospitals

If there is one disease that still rings deadly to the human race, it is cancer. Though it has been prevalent for decades, our medical advancements towards the complete eradication of the disease are yet to be done. In addition, it’s just a handful of people who actually understand the disease, its
causes and severity in proper detail.

As World Cancer Day is approaching on Feb 4th 2020, VS Hospitals, in association with Naturals salons organised a Hair Donation Drive in Ampa Skywalk, Amjikarai. The key goal behind this drive was to collect hair from volunteers that would later be redesigned and donated as wigs to cancer patients who lost their hair.

The event was inaugurated by Prof Dr S. Subramanian, Chairman and MD VS Group of Hospitals, Dr S.Sundar, Senior Consultant Joint Replacement& Tumour Surgeon and Medical Director, and Mr Muthu Subramanian, Executive Director.

The event also witnessed a blood donation drive organised by the VS Blood bank for cancer patients. Adding an entertaining but socially inclined factor to the event was the team from Awakers NGO who performed skits, mime and folk music to teach preventive measures and cancer awareness. Staying true to their Social Responsibility, Ampa Skywalk associated with them as a Mall Partner to help raise cancer awareness among the public The event received an extremely positive response from the public with donors pouring in as many resources as they could afford to support the drive Every year, VS hospitals, Excellence in Advanced Cancer Care and the Ultimate Experts in
Cancer Care organize several awareness events on different health concerns based on the need of a community.
