Global Handwashing Day

Every year October 15th is celebrated as global handwashing day. This day was founded by  Global Handwashing Partnership and this day creates a great impact on the people in the world to wash their hands regularly.

The first Global Handwashing Day was held in 2008 when over a 120million children washed their hands with soap or hand wash in more than 70 countries across the world. And the Global Handwashing Day is endorsed by governments, schools, international institutions, civil society organizations,

The current year 2020s  Day theme is “Hand Hygiene For All”. This year the theme is based on the global initiative calling on all of society to scale up hand hygiene, especially thorough soap or hand wash.

This year’s theme remains that we all should compulsory wash hands with soap or hand wash and we all must work towards universal access to lead a healthy life in the future.

The COVID-19 pandemic provides a stark reminder that we all must wash our hands. This is one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of the coronavirus and is also one of the simplest: hand hygiene, especially through handwashing soap or hand wash.

The aim of the Global Handwashing Day is:

Foster and support a great culture of handwashing with soap in all societies.

Shine a spotlight on the state of handwashing in each country.

Raise awareness about the benefits of handwashing with soaps
