Ex-AIADMK ministers’ homes have been raided on graft charges.

The Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption raided the homes of former AIADMK ministers Vijayabaskar and SP Velumani.

On Tuesday, the Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) raided premises related with former AIADMK ministers Vijayabaskar and SP Velumani. The raids are being carried out across Tamil Nadu on 26 places linked to Vijayabaskar and SP Velumani.

According to ANI, Tamil Nadu Police detained seven AIADMK MLAs and numerous workers for demonstrating outside the home of former state minister SP Velumani in Coimbatore over the raid.

Based on a complaint, the DVAC is looking into former Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani for allegedly swindling money while replacing outdated street lights with LED lights between 2015 and 2018, resulting in a Rs 500 crore loss to the exchequer.

DVAC also raided homes associated with former Health Minister C Vijayabaskar.

Vijayabaskar is suspected of being involved in a corruption case involving anomalies in the granting of vital certifications to Vels Medical College and Hospital in Manjakaranai village in 2020, which were granted in violation of National Medical Commission standards.

Vijayabaskar is also accused of pressuring inspection officials to submit a fraudulent report.
