EPS requests that the Governor of Tamil Nadu take action against the DMK’s “corrupt practises.”
He stated that the October 23 Coimbatore automobile explosion, in which the alleged perpetrator was murdered, could have been avoided if the government had moved sooner.
Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS), Tamil Nadu’s leader of the opposition and interim general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), arrived at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday, accompanied by senior leaders, and complained to governor R N Ravi about deteriorating law and order in the state, as well as levelling corruption allegations against the ruling DMK.
EPS claimed that the ruling DMK government’s “primary objective” is “corruption, collection, and commission,” in addition to failing to preserve law and order. He delivered the governor an 18-page document. “He (the governor) promised us that he will study everything and enquire,” EPS said after the meeting to media.
Murders have become a regular occurrence, according to Palaniswami, and “all of this was happening because of an ineffective puppet chief minister governing the state.”
He stated that the October 23 Coimbatore automobile explosion, in which the alleged perpetrator was murdered, could have been avoided if the government had moved sooner.
He accused M K Stalin of being unconcerned about the incident until it was turned over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
According to EPS, it is not just “a failure of the state intelligence agency, but also demonstrates the incompetence of the state police.”
Meanwhile, MPs from the ruling DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance have requested that Ravi be removed as governor, charging him of unconstitutional behaviour.
On November 9, DMK and its allies wrote a letter to the president alleging that the governor is making communal comments. The DMK also accused the governor of failing to act on the 20 laws passed by the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly since his appointment in September 2021.
In this regard, EPS believes the governor is acting appropriately. “That is why the crooked DMK is referring to the governor as a horrible person,” EPS stated. “As a responsible opposition, we forwarded the grievances to him.” Only the governor has the authority to investigate it,” he continued.
In its lawsuit, the AIADMK also mentioned disturbances that erupted in July following the suicide of a school student in Kallakurichi. EPS urged the governor to take action after accusing the DMK of running free-flowing drug and alcohol stores under its banner. “While pharmaceuticals were freely available, medicines were in insufficient supply in government hospitals.” “Every department is crooked,” according to EPS.
Former ministers and prominent leaders C V Shanmugham, S P Velumani, D Jayakumar, and other senior leaders Natham R Viswanathan, Dindigul Srinivasan, and K P Munusamy accompanied EPS.
