Ronaldo has had an exciting two weeks. It all started with Piers Morgan’s explosive interview in which he blasted Manchester United, the current manager, and the owners. A week later, the Red Devils announced that they had mutually agreed to split ways with the Portugal international since his contract had expired. Then, on Thursday, Ronaldo converted a penalty to become the first man in World Cup history to score in five different tournaments.

After the game, Ronaldo held a press conference for about two minutes and 12 seconds, answering only two questions.

“This was a fantastic occasion – my fifth World Cup,” the 37-year-old stated. We won because we started out strong. A crucial victory. We’re all aware of how crucial the first game is. However, it is also a world record. The first player to have five World Cup goals. That makes me happy.”

A reporter then asked him about the exciting week and Manchester United cancelling his contract, to which he replied bluntly.

“The most important thing is that we won. “We finished this chapter (with United) in a week,” he said. “This chapter has concluded. We wanted to make a nice first impression. We won. I could assist my team. Everything else is irrelevant.”

Portugal’s next match is against Uruguay on Tuesday, November 29.
