Directors have always played a key role in a film’s success or failure. Strong stories, wonder star performances, graphics, great music, and everything else found in a film are all created by them. Currently, there are a slew of wealthy and well-paid Bollywood directors in 2020, all of whom are making a lot of money.

According to a DNA report, the broadcasting rights to Baahubali’s magnum opus were sold for a whopping Rs 434 crore. Despite a hefty budget of Rs 450 crore, it is one of the most profitable Indian films in recent memory, thanks to the CGI required. It earned Rs 510 crore in Bollywood and Rs 1,810 crore worldwide at the box office. According to DNA, SS Rajamouli, the director, received a whopping profit share of Rs 100 crore. This is most likely the highest sum ever paid to a director for a film.
2. Rohit Shetty
With all of the high-flying action in these commercial successes, estimating the budget of a Rohit Shetty film doesn’t require a math genius. Shetty, on the other hand, charges a hefty fee in addition to the production budget. According to DNA, film producer, Sangeeta Ahir offered the director Rs 25 crore because he was set to direct the official remake of Tamil film Soodhu Kavvum, the progress of the project is still uncertain.
3. Rajkumar Hirani
Rajkumar Hirani the “Director of Quality, Not Quantity” in a Business World post, and rightly so, as he has a high hit-to-flop ratio. In addition, his films are made on a shoestring budget. For eg, Munnabhai M.B.B.S. had a budget of Rs 10 crore and received Rs 24 crore. He is, however, also one of Bollywood’s highest-paid directors.
If you like him or not, you can’t argue that Karan Johar is one of India’s most well-known directors and producers. There’s no denying it: he’s a fantastic producer, especially when it comes to documentaries that focus on humanitarian issues. Then there’s his body of work that deals with love and marriages. He charges about Rs 10-15 crores for directing a film for a banner other than Dharma, plus a small share of the earnings if the film does exceptionally well, despite the fact that he does not direct as much as he used to.
5.Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films are known for their extravagant sets and production values. SLB reportedly waived his direction fee for this film, according to DNA. Instead, they took a portion of the box office receipts. With the film grossing Rs 184 crore, the director earned a decent amount, making him one of Bollywood’s highest-paid directors.
