OYO – South Asia’s largest and world’s fastest growing hotel chain – today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttarakhand. With this signing, OYO Hotels has committed an investment worth INR 500 Crore to boost the tourism potential of the state by building a robust hospitality ecosystem. Elaborating on the development, Ritesh Agarwal, Founder, and CEO, OYO Hotels, said, “This initiative with the Uttarakhand Government will be a significant step ahead in boosting the state’s economy, where tourism plays an instrumental role. The state is dotted with world-famous destinations such as Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie amongst others, and we are committed to making these more accessible to domestic and international travelers. Over the last five years, OYO has built deep expertise in standardizing amenities and guest experiences in the budget hotels segment, and, therefore, this tie-up offers an opportunity to transfer these skills and learnings to hoteliers in Uttarakhand. This we are certain will help them be better equipped to meet the needs of tourists while running a profitable and sustainable business. Our efforts are focused towards ensuring that we support the State’s vision to provide affordable good quality accommodations to tourists and thereby boost tourism while ensuring we promote micro-entrepreneurship by empowering independent hoteliers. ”
