The skill development project will be executed by NSDC through its approved training partners near Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP), the single largest nuclear power station in India, situated in the Tirunelveli district of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. NPCIL has committed INR 1.74 crore under its CSR contributions towards this project, which is estimated to be complete in 15 months.
Speaking about the project, Jayant Krishna, ED & COO, NSDC said, “NSDC’s Industry Partnerships and CSR Wing has been working collaboratively with various public-sector undertakings and private sector corporates to leverage their CSR funds towards the Skill India which is a nation-building mission. Initiatives such as these, not only bring positive changes in the lives of underserved, but also help in capacity building of the local communities and improve economic performance of the regions, thereby reducing the rural-to- urban migration.”
Commenting on the initiative, Site Director of KKNPP, Mr. D.S. Choudhary, shared “This initiative by NPCIL is a part of our commitment towards the welfare of the people around us. This skill
development programme, I hope, will pave a path to social and economic growth, especially for the underprivileged sections in the nearest society.”
Upon successful completion of the training, the trainee will receive a certificate which conforms to National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), a competency-based framework for skills. The program will also embed soft skills and digital modules. NSDC will ensure quality training and management of the structured skill development program, while NPCIL will monitor the progress of
